RULES AND GUIDELINES

All contestants must be full-time residents of Jefferson County.

Judges will view photos without any names and must not be related to any participant.

Watermelon themed photos are strongly encouraged but not required.

A People’s Choice Award category will be available for online votes for $2 each. Voting will take place at MonticelloWatermelonFestival.com

This is a contest to brag and show off the personality of your furry friends through photography and not a professional photo contest. While quality and clarity of the photo is important, and is given consideration, the judges will be instructed to look for the dog photo that appeals to them and really showcases the pet. This contest is for fun and promotes the festival and the community.

Photos will be on display at a selected downtown storefront location. The winners will be notified by phone and/or e-mail no later than June 2. Awards will be presented at the Kick-Off Dinner held on June 7.

Pet parents of winning pets will be responsible for organizing and decorating a float for the Parade held Saturday, June 15, 2024.
CONTEST DEADLINES AND SUBMISSION INFO

All applications and photo submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM, Friday, May 14, 2024.

Entries must be uploaded to the Festival Website under Pet Photo Submissions.

Entry fee is $10. Only one photo submission per pet.
PICTURES ON DISPLAY
The pictures will be on display at several downtown merchants.
I do hereby agree to abide by the rules, regulations, and guidelines of this contest. The contest director/staff/venue will not be held liable for any injury, loss, or damage before, during, or after meetings, rehearsals, competitions, any and all future events, etc. The judges’ decisions are final and nonnegotiable. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN (unless the contest is cancelled.) I attest to the truthfulness of the information provided. I agree that my family and I will show forth good conduct at all times.
PHOTO RELEASE
I give permission to the Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce, the Watermelon Festival Committee, and all event sponsors, to record the appearance, physical likeness and/or voice on videotape, on film, or digital video disk, and/or take photographs of the appearance of my pet
and to release these images to the news media, use for posting on the Intranet or Internet, use in internal or external publications, or use in any other manner deemed appropriate by the Chamber, Festival, or Sponsor.
I acknowledge that the Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce is the sole owner of all rights in, and to, this visual, sound production, photograph(s), or print material, thereof, and that it has the right to use or reproduce the resulting property as often as it finds necessary. The property may be used indefinitely by television, radio, newspapers, magazines, newsletters, brochures, Internet, intranet, or in other media once released.
The Monticello Jefferson Chamber of Commerce has the right, among other things, to edit and/or otherwise alter the visual or sound recording, or photographs, as needed. I understand I will receive no compensation for the appearance of the above-named person or for participation in said productions. I agree to hold the Chamber, Watermelon Festival Committee and all Sponsors, their employees and other parties harmless against claim, liability, loss, or damage caused by, or arising from, my participation in this activity. Revocation of this release may be made in person to the Monticello Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce.
